Foodborne diseases caused by contamination at various stages of food production, delivery, and consumption pose significant public health challenges. These illnesses, stemming from bacteria, viruses, parasites, or chemical substances like heavy metals, account for over 200 diseases ranging from diarrhoea to cancer. Beyond their immediate effects, foodborne diseases can exacerbate undernutrition due to symptoms such as reduced appetite, vomiting, and diarrhoea, which hinder nutrient intake and absorption.

To address these challenges, SWR Ethiopia, together with Wageningen University, is hosting a short training program aimed at enhancing the knowledge and skills of professionals working in the field of food safety in Ethiopia. This initiative seeks to foster collaboration, develop a strong network of peers at both regional and national levels, and strengthen food safety practices across the country.

Interested individuals are encouraged to learn more about the program and apply by visiting this link.

Please note that the application deadline is January 6, 2025.
